The East Butler Public School District was established in 1961 with the consolidation of the Brainard, Dwight, and Loma school districts. The district has grown over the years and in 2010 the Prague School District merged with East Bulter. The school has an enrollment of approximately 360 students and serves portions of Butler, Saunders, and Seward counties. The school is staffed with quality administrators, teachers, and supporting personnel and has excellent facilities in Brainard, Dwight, and Prague. East Butler provides an extensive curriculum and gives students the opportunity to participate in many extracurricular activities. East Butler is served by Educational Service Unit 7.
The East Butler Public Schools Foundation has a substantial endowment that allows it to provide a scholarship to every graduating senior that attends a two or four year institution of higher learning. It provides for continued growth and improvement in the school. For information, email: ebutlerfoundation@hotmail.com or PO Box 54, Brainard, NE 68626.
Nine school board members are elected to four year terms and meet the second Wednesday of each month. East Butler also operates a morning and afternoon preschool.
